This year I'm going back to posting this info in a single message posted on December 31st, so it will forever live at the end of the year, as a summary of the media I've consumed (I mean all I remember to record), but for the next 364 days it will be at the top of my page.

I found it by googling different words/phrases I thought I remembered. It was
radiantbaby who had posted the link-a-dink!
Funny part of my search...
radiantbaby had responded to my post but mentioned a key part of the body shape identification method, looking at birth weight, but I had totally forgotten that part so didn't think we were talking about the same piece.

A few days/weeks ago someone - I think it was here - posted about some dietary research. It identified two body types (apple/pear) and the dietary recommendations that come with each.
I remember reading the article and the post about it but cannot find it for the life of me.
Can anyone help?

OK,
magsmom has hosted a fantabulous friending frenzy recently but there's another part of my LJ life that needs some attention... Communities!
Many of my closest friends were found in LJ Communities but so many have gone silent in recent years...
What are the communities you're enjoying today? Why do you like them? Which are pretty quiet but when someone posts, it's a good one?
My faves are
longhair (lots of awesome advice about maintaining & appreciating long hair, along with lots of photos of pretty hair) and
organizers (where I get to drool at the AMAZING calendars/planners that other people make and use).
In addition, I want to point out
__alt_icons, which is not a community but it's where I get many of my icons & I jump for joy every time I see new icons have been posted.

Please feel free to link to this post if you've reposted my previous request. Let people know how Annabelle is doing. I will try to send out thank you cards soon, but I'm looking at like 100 thank you cards so it could take some time. But I want everyone to know that Annabelle is slowly recovering and that I'm hopeful about getting her back to normal in no time.
More updates to come as she heals. I hope to have her running at the dog beach again soon, and yes... this time I will post photos!

The Guardian made this incredible circular graphic to compare all 50 states in 7 areas:
Marriage
Hospital visits
Adoption
Employment
Housing
Hate crimes
Schools
You can adjust the graphic so each state's slice of the pie is equal or adjust for population.
Times are changing but not fast enough for all of us who live, breathe and love today...

I just saw something on FB... it was a little graphic sharing the message:
"Losing Faith In Humanity One Person at a Time"
I felt compelled to share a link to HeroicStories and after hitting "post" I had to come over here and share a link to those of you who are here on LJ.
http://www.heroicstories.org/
Their mission is pretty simple... "to publish examples of people being good to each other, to inspire similar heroic actions in others."
They got started in 1999 and I've been signed up for their e-newsletter for most of that time.
It's so easy to get caught up in the ugliness of the world. After a while, it's easy to think that's all there is...
but that's not true. There are many more people out there doing the right things vs the ones, who are much fewer in number, who do/say the bad things... yet the bad are the ones whose stories get told over and over and they are the ones we remember.
Reading things like this are a reminder that there are good people, good moments happening all around us... they just don't get the same air time.
If you want to live a happier life, it's worth the effort to seek out (and share) the good stories in the world.

When you are in a fluctuating state of mind, like when you are angry or have lost your temper, then it is good to bring back calmness by concentrating on breathing. Just count the breaths, completely forgetting about anger. Concentrate on breathing and count in/out "one, two, three," up to twenty.
At that moment when your mind concentrates fully on breathing, the breath coming and going, the passions subside. Afterwards it is easier to think clearly.
Since all activities, including meditation, depend very much on the force of intention or motivation, it is important that, before you begin to meditate, you cultivate a correct motivation... The correct motivation is the altruistic attitude.
